Of Note — March 2020

Well, it’s April. March was…something else, to say the least. My husband and I celebrated our first year of marriage on the 31st, and instead of going to the restaurant we got married at, we had a quiet dinner at home in quarantine. Covid19 is currently a pandemic, and the whole world is seemingly standing still. I’ve been working from home for two weeks now, and while it’s been challenging at times, I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. Being forced to be inside also made for a lot of web-browsing time, so enjoy the fruits of my surfing.

Worthwhile Bites & Sips

Blue Moon Pizza in Marietta, GA
Early in March my husband and I took a hike to get out of the city, knowing that it would probably be the last time we got out into the forest for a while. On our way back, we made up all the calories we burned by stopping by Blue Moon Pizza. Get the Grandma Pizza — a huge Sicilian style pie purely constructed with basil, garlic, mozzarella and crushed San Marzanos tomatoes.

JCT Kitchen & Bar on the Westside — Atlanta, GA
That same weekend my husband and I met up with some friends for brunch at JCT, a Ford Fry restaurant. I’m not usually one for brunch because I feel most restaurants use it as an excuse to overcharge you for avocado toast, but JCT does it right. They start you out with a basket of locally baked pastries, then my husband and I shared a taaaaaall slice of quiche, and for dessert you’re presented with warm chocolate chip cookies. To sip, I ordered a First Train West; Zero Mile Post cold brew coffee, licor 43, hoodoo chicory, and Resurgens rye. It might be the first brunch I go back to once we’re allowed to leave the apartment again.

Miscellaneous Finds

Iron Hill Trail at Red Top Mountain — Acworth, GA
I’m the kind of person where if I don’t get some time outside among green things I start to go a little crazy. With the weather finally warming up and it not raining all the time, my husband and I took advantage and headed outside of the city to get in a few hours among the trees. This trail meanders along the edges of Allatoona Lake, making for some beautiful waterfront views.
