Of Note — October 2019

Of Note is a collection of things I read, watched, ate, visited or experienced from month to month.

Worth Watching

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty directed by and starring Ben Stiller.
I didn’t think I would enjoy this movie as much as I did, but I found myself laughing at it and getting invested nonetheless.

Chef directed by, written by and starring Jon Favreau.
This one’s been on my list for a while now and I’m glad I watched it. Made me nostalgic for food from South Florida.

Worth It! Taiwan (Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3) from Buzzfeed Video.
The Worth It series on buzzfeed is one of my favorites, and this three-part series exploring the food and culture of Taiwan is no different.

Worthwhile Bites & Sips

Julianna’s Crepes in Inman Park - Atlanta, GA.
Cute little hole-in-the-wall cafe serving tasty crepes, ranging from traditional Hungarian fillings to offbeat combinations.

Momonoki Cafe in Midtown - Atlanta, GA.
Traditional Japanese food made upscale/approachable for the Southern millenial audience. Try the Chicken Katsu Sando.

Schoolhouse Brewing in Marietta, GA.
Opened by two former teachers, the brewery features fun interiors that play on this theme; schoolbus seating, a principal’s office, etc. And the beer is pretty darn tasty too.

Misfits Market
Misfits Market is a food subscription service that takes ugly organic vegetables and sells them to you at a much cheaper rate than you can get organic produce at the supermarket. I’ve tried some of the tastiest vegetables that I’ve ever had in my life through this box, and if you like the challenge of cooking with a lot of different experiences, I recommend giving them a try!

Miscellaneous Finds

Untitled Goose Game by House House.
Honestly, this game is just so ridiculous and fun that I think everyone should play it.

The Sleepy Hollow Experience by Serenbe Playhouse
An immersive play that lets guests experience the story in a new and exciting way. It’s entirely outdoors, and the audience travels from set to set to be right in the middle of the action.
